Digital Floral Woodcuts

The process I employ in the computer darkroom does not involve heavy plates, long exposure times, nor toxic chemicals. However, as with the early pioneers, the final image is a function of light, tone and composition.
What is a Daguerreotype?

The process revolutionized photography...photographs became a mirror of the individual spirit.

Welcome
Thank you for your interest in Time-less-image. We offer the public unique and affordable Christmas cards, fine art note cards and prints. Our original rowing prints make great gifts for the sweeps rower or sculler in your life- including yourself! If my virtual store had a sign hanging over the doorstep it would read:
"At Time-less-image we continue to seek exquisite beauty in our images, exploring all techniques, old and new".
The Welcome Pictures
The first was taken on New Year's Eve in Queenstown, New Zealand. The town follows the shores of Lake Wakatipu - a deep blue pool of pure mountain water. Framing the picture is The Remarkables range with its purple-brown peaks topped with snow. Swathes of green decorate the area between town and mountain top. Queenstown was named because ‘...it was fit for Queen Victoria."
The second is a typical evening on the Zócalo of Cholula. Zócalo is a Spanish term for a town square or town center. It's where social and business transactions take place. A city's zócalo is often surrounded by shops and you will find a flag and usually a statue in the center of the square. Cholula is a few hours drive south from Mexico City. Cholula is a very small town that happens to be near a large University frequented by many students from around the world. Quite a few US college students have learned their Spanish, and developed a taste for Tequila in Cholula.

| According to Aztec legend, Iztaccíhuatl's father sent him to war in Oaxaca, promising him his daughter as his wife if he returned (which Iztaccíhuatl's father presumed he would not). Iztaccíhuatl's father told her that her lover had fallen in battle and she died of grief. When Popocatépetl returned, and discovered the death of his lover, he committed suicide by plunging a dagger through his heart. The gods covered them with snow and changed them into mountains. Iztaccíhuatl's mountain was called "La Mujer Dormida, (the "Sleeping Woman"), because it bears a resemblance to a woman sleeping on her back. Popocatépetl became the volcano Popocatépetl, raining fire on Earth in blind rage at the loss of his beloved. |

| What does a brand spanking new box of Crayola crayons bring to mind? Ever wondered how they got those labels on the crayons? We didn't have much money in my family while growing up, but I still had to have Crayolas, not any other brand. The others just didn't "color" right. One good thing about Crayolas -- they were affordable for everyone. We didn't always get indulged with the 64 box, but that's okay -- I never used all of them anyway! Crayola must have been the start of brand name recognition for me and millions of other kids across the nation.
Childhood is a distant memory, but I am still a kid in the digital darkroom. Recently I have been attempting to replicate a style similar to Batik. Batik is a wax-resist dyeing technique used on textile. Batik is found in several countries of West Africa, in Asia. However, it is in Indonesia that it is considered a national art form.
Melted wax (Javanese: malam) is applied to cloth before being dipped in dye. It is common for people to use a mixture of bees wax and paraffin wax. The bee's wax will hold to the fabric and the paraffin wax will allow cracking, which is a characteristic of batik. Wherever the wax has seeped through the fabric, the dye will not penetrate. Sometimes several colors are used, with a series of dyeing, drying and waxing steps.

A major component of the site is it's emphasis on amateur sports. I have developed a large portfolio of Masters and Collegiate rowing events. Gallaries include The Head of the Charles, The Dad Vail Regatta, The IRA Championship, The Masters National and recently the 2006 FISA Masters World Sprints. A recent discovery is the photographic potential of BMX cycling, skateboarding and surfing. There is an amazing skateboarding and cycling park near me. I hope to upload some galleries over the next few weeks.

| Great Arizona Bicycle Adventure |

My brothers participated in the 27'th Annual Great Arizona Bicycle Adventure.with 200 other avid cyclists. The ride is organized by the Greater Arizona Bicycling Association (GABA). The first email update I received stated that most of the bikes were true light weight cycling machines: carbon fiber being the frame of choice. This isn't a ride for the casual commuter. The elevation rises from 500 feet at the start to 8,000 feet
One of the high points of the ride was cycling along Route 66, the National Old Trails Highway. John Steinbeck called it the Mother Road.

| Northeast Surfing Championship |
 |
Hampton Beach New Hampshire hosted the Eastern Surfing Association's Northeast Surfing Championship over the May 12'th weekend. It was the first time in 10 years the town has been chosen as the site of the three-day competition. An estimated 350 surfers from around New England qualified to compete in this year's event, with 30 surfers from the Seacoast invited to attend. The location of the competition is rotated among several cities in the Northeast.
Shortboarders, longboarders and bodyboarders locked horns in a series of timed heats with a set quota of waves competitors were allowed to ride. Each competitor was judged on the tricks they attempted, and points were awarded based on the degree of difficulty and variety of maneuvers.
Many found it difficult to even get up onto their boards. Organizers said, although the waves along the span known as "The Wall" at North Beach are usually around a head high, they'd been considerably smaller throughout the weekend.

| This aerial ballet is the manifestation of the new water sport of Kitesurfing. Kitesurfing is the synergistic offspring of windsurfing, wake boarding and paragliding. Kitesurfers control a wing of lightweight fabric, which pulls them across the water or above it. The sport is fast becoming the center of attention on the world water sports stage as pre-conceived limitations are regularly being shattered |

| Le Carousel |
 |
| The word “carousel” has been traced to twelfth-century Arabian games of horsemanship called “carosellos” or “little wars.” The game consisted of riders tossing a small perfumed clay ball from one rider to another. By the 16th century these games spread to France where the events were elaborated; people wore fanciful costumes and engaged in tournaments of drama called “Carrousels.” Eventually the art form became more tactile, as artists began to sculpt crudely shaped horses. In the late nineteenth century American artists broke from European tradition. To the dashing horses, artists added an entire menagerie of elegant animals, often accompanied by flowers, bells, plump cherubs, and flashing mirrors.
Le Carrousel in Bryant Park, specially created to complement the park’s French classical style, is an homage to both European and American traditions. Its fourteen delightful animals, replicas of classic carousel creatures, revolve to the sounds of French cabaret music. The rounding boards, inspired by Bryant Park’s elegant baroque-style torchères along 40th Street, blend into the leafy canopy of the park’s plane trees.

| Clowns are both unnoticed and everywhere in Mexico |
 |
| Various types of clowns can still be found all over Mexico, from the elegant carablancas (“white faces”) with elaborate sequined costumes; to the Great Depression-inspired trampas, or vagabundos. wearing tattered rags and frowns. There are also the payasos callejeros the street clowns.
The callejeros wear homespun costumes and mime and dance at busy traffic lights or tell jokes on crowded buses. Many paint black teardrops on their faces to represent their marginalized existence. They perform for adult audiences, indulging in bawdy humor and bad language. For some, being a street clown is a passion. For others, it’s a result of poverty, unemployment and desperation.
In recent years, Mexico’s street clowns have begun to organize, holding workshops, contests and conventions throughout the country. About 200 clowns in costume and full makeup make an annual pilgrimage to the Basilica of Guadalupe to thank the Virgin for her help and protection throughout the year.
In Mexico, popular arts are held in high regard, and even middle-class Mexicans tend to tolerate (and often appreciate) this subculture of humble street clowns. Even those who view it more as a hustle than an art at least see it as an honest and creative hustle after all, a clown has to eat. As the callejero slogan goes: Venga a ver lo que hace el hambre. (“Come see what hunger makes.”)
But for some, the callejeros are urban heroes and cultural warriors. They perceive the street clowns as artistic revolutionaries who bring heart and sweat and spirit to every performance, who fight daily for sustenance and the space to express their art.

During the last two to three million years, 20 to 30 ice sheets intermittently covered most of New England. Eventually, after the ice melted, some deepened valleys became water basins. These water-filled hollows became Eagle Lake and Echo Lake, in Acadia National Park. In one instance, the glacier cut a trough that resulted from an ice-sculpting "binge," so deep that it filled with sea water. This formed a fjord now called Somes Sound.

| A bragozzo is a Venetian fishing boat, traditionally built in Chioggia, the most important town on the Venetian lagoon after Venice. It stands at the southern tip of the lagoon, a two-hour ride by boat from Venice. It is the main fishing port on the lagoon. This city is connected to the sea by an inlet or "bocca di porto" of the port of Chioggia. Chioggia’s position has encouraged, in the past, the processing of salt and fishing activities. |

| The Saguaro has a surprisingly shallow root system , considering its great height and weight. It is supported by a tap root that is only a pad about 3 feet long, as well as numerous stout roots no deeper than a foot, emanating radially from its base. More smaller roots run radially to a distance equal to the height of the Saguaro. These roots wrap about rocks providing adequate anchorage from winds across the rocky bajadas. |

| Time-Less-Image is proud to offer items from our collection of comic books, graphic novels and original comic art. Both my brother Tom and I have been lifelong readers, collectors and fans of comics since early childhood. I actually remember paying $ 0.05 for my new issue comics! Classic Illustrated books introduced me to some of the American and European classics. |
Tom owned "Comics, Legends & Lore" a comic book store in Lynn, Massachussetts during the 80's. He was active at all the trade shows and conventions. Together we hope to bring our knowledge and enthusiasm to the virtual comic world on Ebay. |

| The creature, called Swamp Thing, was originally conceived as Alec Holland mutating into a vegetable-like creature, a "muck-encrusted mockery of a man". However, under writer Alan Moore, Swamp Thing was reinvented as an elemental entity created upon the death of Alec Holland, with Holland's memory and personality intact. He is described as "a plant that thought it was Alec Holland, a plant that was trying its level best to be Alec Holland." |
Spider-Man was introduced in Amazing Fantasy #15, 1962. Due to positive sales and fan mail resulting from the issue, the character received his own title, The Amazing Spider-Man, the following year, which became Marvel's best-selling series. The character quickly became a cultural icon; a 1965 Esquire poll of college campuses found that college students ranked Spider-Man and fellow Marvel hero The Hulk alongside Bob Dylan and Che Guevara as their favorite revolutionary icons.

The Shadow is a fictional crime fighter created by Walter B Gibson. The character is one of the most famous of the pulp heroes of the 1930s and 1940s. Made even more famous through a popular radio series, the Shadow has since been featured also in comic books, comic strips, television, and at least seven motion pictures. Regardless, the Shadow is best regarded for its radio years, in which pulp crime fiction received perhaps its most compelling broadcast interpretation.

Cerebus is, as some of you know, an Aardvark. Over the years, the author, Dave Sim, has let us follow this odd creature through his adventures as a barbarian, mercenary, drunk, Prime Minister and even, Pope. Cerebus is a man, excuse me, an Aardvark, of big ambitions. His ambitions involve grabbing as much gold as possible. He does well. Cerebus is a morally ambiguous character, at times sympathetic, at others callous. He is often foul-mouthed and uncouth, has a vicious temper, and loves getting drunk. Cerebus is a warrior by heart, his favorite weapon is his sword. His most unusual weapon: the dreaded pig snout punch.
