Zocalo Cholula
Cholula Mexico Time-less-image
A typical evening on the Zócalo of Cholula. Zócalo is a Spanish term for a town square or town center. It's where social and business transactions take place. A city's zócalo is often surrounded by shops and you will find a flag and usually a statue in the center of the square. Cholula is a few hours drive south from Mexico City. Cholula is a very small town that happens to be near a large University frequented by many students from around the world. Quite a few US college students have learned their Spanish, and developed a taste for Tequila in Cholula.

In Cholula (Puebla), with its host of churches, the Passion Processions pass over vast carpets of flowers.

Christmas Puebla Mexico
The Balloon Man Time-less-image
I celebrated Christmas in Puebla, Mexico. I was fortunate to be invited to Christmas Eve with a wonderful family. I have fond memories of incredible food, drink, conversation and the warm celebration of the spirit of Christmas. However, my first pictures include balloons. I don't think I have ever seen so many balloons in one place.

Oaxaca's regional cuisine is considered exceptional even in food-famous Mexico. Developed over thousands of years, subtle and balanced, this food is good whether eaten on a street corner, a fonda in the market place or in a fancy restaurant in the historic center near the Zocalo. A stroll through the parks, to the museums and shops is much enhanced by a snack along the way. Perusing food stands in the markets with all their exotic piles of fruits and spices, and even buying a few, is a special Oaxaca adventure..
